How To...
How to become a J.R.O.T.C. Member.
If you go to any of the Chicopee High Schools we welcome you with open arms. For those who are not in 9th - 12th grade, think about joining J.R.O.T.C. We do a lot of fun things. We march in parades, do stuff at the air shows, and go on camp outs. For some of you out there I have a feeling you believe this is like a boy/girl scout type thing and it isn't.  This program at first was only for the Chicopee High Squadron. Until we needed more cadets, so we invited Chicopee Comp to make a Chicopee Squadron. We now have more member as if we only had just one of the high schools. We are always looking for new cadets to join the program. This is a program that can get you ready for any of the following services: Air Force, Army, Navy, and Reserves. If you plan on going into any of the US services without going through J.R.O.T.C. and then when you go into collage to do R.O.T.C. you would start off as an enlistee. If you join this program, and the collage program, when you go into the service you will be an officer not an enlistee.
You can become a member of this program at any time. We also have a Honor Guard with rifles and flags and a Drill Team. If you have any experience in either of those programs you are to try out for our positions that are open. When you walk into any of the doors either at Chicopee High or Chicopee Comp you have to sign in letting know you are hear and you will be able to watch what we do and see if you would like to do things like this. Our meetings are on every Wednesday @ 1800 (6:00) unless told something else. We have one whole squadron meeting at Chicopee High, and then the next week we will be at our own high schools, either Chicopee High or Comp.

How To Advance In Ranks
We take a couple tests during our marking term for this program, if you pass the test and you get a great score you might have a chance to go up a rank. Nonetheless if you fail you will not lose a rank. The Cornell will discuss things at the meeting and you are expected to take notes on whatever he says basically. He looks at the appearance of how well you ironed your B.D.U. (Battle Dress Uniform) and your blues which will both be issued to you when you join. Probably not right away may take sometime. You will always increase in rank if you don't fool around at the meetings, you do what the higher ranks tell you to do, and you do all the facing movements such as: Right face, left face, half-right face, half-left face, about face, present arms, order arms, mark time, mark time march, mark time halt, left wheel (turning left while marching), right wheel (Turning right while marching), at easy, parade rest. All of the following will be taught to you when you join. You should not show PUBLIC DISPLAY OF AFFECTION (DPA) at any of the meetings or while in uniform. If you address the other cadets that are higher in ranking than you correctly you will not have a problem with them, but if you address them wrong they give you as many push-ups as they like until you address them correctly. Lastly if you memorize ever cadets last name, the star spangle banner, and the ranks you will be in good shape and will have a good chance of getting promoted.
